I’ve had the absolute honour of working with Janel and Joel on several occasions now. Before we ever decided to take any photos together, we were friends. And they are some of the loveliest, and most loving, people I’ve been proudly able to call friends. They are generous with their care to each other and their friends in a way that is seemingly bottomless. They are celebrators of art, love and life, and some of the biggest supporters (and cheerleaders!) of my art that I’ve ever met. They have a strong sensibility to art themselves - they have amazing taste and developed preferences - but they also have a strong trust in me & my process to make the art I’d like to see in the world and experiment. Every time we’ve had the ability to celebrate one of their life’s milestones together, whether it be their partnership or their first pregnancy, I’ve made some of the work I’m most proud of, to this day.
